What going to be the best first batch for me?

You really need to condition the females first about two weeks of frozen bloodworm or live food if possible, and do the same for wich ever male you choose it depends on what your really looking for,you need to get the fry food ready for the second day from hatching, and there free swimming have you room for possible 150+ fry, but out of all the males i like the blue have a look here and have a read first........

I have been reading up on it, i just wanted to know which 2 males i should prepare for breedng :)

Im leaning towards the cellaphane and the blue?

Both males are constantly making bubble nests, so with a little live feeding and decent prep i could have a couple of spawns in the next few months.

Is 4 months a reasonable time to expect to have decent sized young?

the females look pretty stressed in that first picture with the horizontal stripes..but besides that I would say try breeding them with the male who makes the biggest bubble nest

That was when they had just come out of the bag from the shop, so they were probably very stressed. They are settled down now :)

I say wait for the females to color up and once you see what colors they have then decide on which male because then you can estimate what colors and tail types you will get. A few of them just look like mutts so you wont really get anything special if you breed them. I say go for the cellophane/white male and breed him with a female that is the lightest.

Yeah, that could be pretty!

hi,

as far as i can see, one of the females is steel blue and the other is more turquise.
it is a blue-gen they cary that will always split up in blue, royal blue, steel blue and turquise.

blue is a dominant color, never forget that.

if you breed them to any other color than blue, you`ll get out multicolored fishs all the way, with blue into them. if you take the gost male, you`ll get out blue, that`s all :(

i would take the blue male, also he has a lot of red wash in.
take the female with the most rays in the caudale and dorsal fin ;) will help the vt`s spreading better than their parents :hyper:
