Please can any of you suggest which 60" T8 tubes I might be happy with. I've tried several different ones, but can't find any single lamp or combination (the hood takes 2 x 60" tubes) that provides the natural/neutral colour, which I prefer. In my smaller tank I quickly settled on Hagen Life-Glo 2 as they just look right - in my opinion they look natural with very little taint...way better than any other I tried in this respect. BUT they aren't produced in the 60" length.
So far in my 5ft tank, I've tried the Arcadia Freshwater, but I find it a little too 'green' looking on it's own. Arcadia Tropical looks far too pink/red on its own, but when paired with a Freshwater the combined effect is not bad and is the best I've got yet...but nowhere near as nice as the Life-Glo 2 in my other tank. I've also tried the Sylvania Gro-Lux, which I found looked terrible on its own also quite dim) and approaching acceptable when partnered with the Arcadia Freshwater. Today I received a couple of Narva Oceanic Light tubes, which from what I had heard I really believed would be what I was looking for. But I have just installed one, alongside an Arcadia Freshwater and it has given the tank quite a strong yellow cast, which I'm not keen on and this is very prominent if I switch the Arcadia Freshwater off.
If they made Life-Glo 2 in 60" I'd be happy, but given that they don't can anyone suggest a single tube or combo that might work for me?
