Hi guys
i bought and filled my 120 litre tank 3 days ago i treated it with the anti chlorine stuff. i then took a few tests Amonia, Nitrite and the PH level(7), they all came out 0 so i went to the shop to buy myself a few fish. i bought home 1 young male guppy and 2 female guppies (1 is pregnant!)
i would love to know about which fish i can/cant add, and which to add first.
here is my desired list
8 guppys 3 male and 5 female
2 dwarf gourami 1 male ane 1 female
8 neon tetra
2-1 bumble bee gobie
2-1 kuhlie (coolie) loach
2 african dwarf frogs
3 bulldog plecs (please help, will these eat algea off glass sides or just the plants and gravel)

my tank has some dense planting and alot of open areas
i have a small rock cave (just three large rocks stacked on top of each other)
i have a fine gravel
keep my tank a 27 degrees c
i use a sponge filter
i hace 1 fairly big piece of bog wood

Please tell me if this is a good list to have for a responsible beginer, (ive done my research), and if the loach dosent go withe the frog or gobie please tell me.
Tahnks alot, i eagerly awit your reply(s)

You need to cycle the tank. Unfourtunately you bought fish too soon. Yes, the levels may have been at 0, but that is because it's just dechlorinated tap water. Buy a test kit, either a master test kit or one for ammonia and one for nitrite. What make is the sponge filter? Not all are very good for tanks over about 10 gallons.

im not sure, the filter came with the tank, as a kit the aquarium guy said it was ok. i already have the test kit, does this mean the fish are gonna die, if so should i remove them so they dont contaminate the water,
also for the future is the list of fish ok.

thanks for the advise
jack
ps my guppy is givving birth right now, about 15 so far!!

I can't be stuffed to work out how many gallons it is, but I'd say fine apart from the bumblebee gobies, most ones you find are brackish.

Bumblebee gobys are indeed brackish fish(i.e need saltwater tank) and don't last long in feshwater tanks and are also predetory fish that are difficult to feed so would not be a good option for your tank- 120litres is roughly 30gallons.
The minimum amount of female guppys per male is 2-3females, even more if you have more than 1male. They are also notorious for breeding on a large and rapid scale(a single female can produce over 40fry per month and can store sperm in them so can still breed in the absense of a male) so if you have guppys, or any other livebearer, expect them to breed and get fry. A suitable gender ratio for your tank would be 2males and 6females.
Bulldog plecs are omnivores so although they will eat algae they also need there diet substituted with high protein foods like prawns, large bloodworms and krill- although i've never kept them myself so i couldn't tell you on what their personalitys are like.

After you read about cycling your tank and have begun to cycle your tank it will take quite som etime though before it can be safely stocked to its limits though.
