which filter?

What kind of filters do you people recommend for betta fighting fish?? i need one that does not obstruct the water's surface much and something that is not too big as i do not have a big tank?

2 betta male with separator but i duno the size of my tank exactly coz i havent got it yet... but its 36cm in length if thats any help?

Prolly around 10-20 gallons then would be my guess... "Separator"? Does that totally separate the two sides of the tank or is it just mesh or something?

Just simple sponge filter is probally best, maybe a undergravel but i don't like those much
