Right I've finally got the money together to get a new filter. I had decided on a 2078 because I'm a sucker for gadgets but I'm now thinking the 2080 is the better option.

Its for a 240l Tank, planted with C02 and the following stock:

10 Cardinal Tetras
9 Otocinclus (1 Zeb)
3 Fake Corydoras Julii
5 Puntius denisonii
5 Boeseman's Rainbowfish
4 Melanotaenia Parva or Melanotaenia Australis Rainbowfish (still can't decide what they are)
1 Rainbow Red Shark
1 Angel Fish
1 Barred Spiny Eel (MACROGNATHUS PANCALUS)
2 Opaline Gourami
2 Congo Tetras
2 Mollies
2 Bristlenose pleco
5 Amano Shrimp

Hey mate, i own both of them. Personally i would choose the eheim pro 3e 2078, really good filter, expensive but you really do pay for quality, Plus you can alter the flow electronically if you find it is too powerfull for you tank , as i am using my 2080 on a 450 litre tank and it is really powerfull, Plus the 2080 is HUGE and probably wouldnt fit in a 240 litre tank cabinet , and it definatly wont if it is the Juwel rio 240??

Overall, two excellent filters, but in you case i would definalty choose the 2078 - plus you said you like gadgets !!!

Best regards, If you have any questions about them, let me know and i will answer them for you.

All the best, Adam
