This is my first post so...HI
I have a tank 36" x 15 x 18, which has 3 BIG golfish ( 9,6 and 5 inch)and 1 frog in. At the mo I am using a Fluval 3 internal filter, which can't keep up to all the mess. I was thinking of getting a Eheim 2026 pro2, until I noticed it was a bit over powerfull. Can you over filter,as in will it flow too much and upset my fish?
I also had the idea of a under gravel filter as well.
ANYONE

When it comes to over filtering the only thing I can think of is that small fish might find it hard to tolerate the more powerful flow of a large output filter. With fish the size you have I don't see that as a problem and since goldfish tend to be messy more filtration would seem to be a plus. I try to keep my tanks with 10x filtration per hour. That means my 46 gal always has at least 460 gph filtration running on it. Some folks recommend even higher rates of course that depends on the bio load of the tank.

Would you recomend an under gravel filter? My consern is more messy tubes and also cleaning it. Would it run ok with 1 of my duel outlets from my air pump, or do I need a separate power pump?
