Hi I have just planted my tank and am wondering what is the best fertiliser to use? Do I need to use both macro and micro fertilisers or is there a one which is combined I could use?

hi, the best complete fert is TPN+, which you can buy at www.aquaessentials.co.uk and fluidsensoronline.com. :good:

whats the size of tank? above 10 gallons? then i recommend dry-fert method, just 10-20 dollar investment will last you for more than year or two.

you could do that, as i am with my 55gal, but it takes a bit of working out, and adjusting to get it right. TPN+is the easy option. :good:

My tanks 110 Litres which is about 25 gallons i think, I had a look at the TPN+ but it says it is only micro not macro nutrients? by dry ferts do you mean the tablets you stick in the substrate? I have a sand substrate would thy work with these?

hi, TPN+ has micro and macro nutrients. make sure you are looking at TPN+ and not just TPN. the dry ferts aren't the tablets that you put under the substrate. you use the dry ferts when mixing your own. you buy magnesium sulphate, potassium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate and trace elements, and mix with water then dose like normal. but it takes a long time working out the correct amounts of each one. :good:

lol sounds like I'll gor for the TPN+ then, dont really fancy mixing my own fertiliser.

delete if needs be mods.

hi, this is a link to it: http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/tropica-plant-nutrition-500ml-p-1038.html

i get the 500ml bottle, as it works out cheaper in the long run. :good:

EI or dry ferts. Make your own. TPN+ may be a nice fertilizer, but seriously why so expensive? My EI ferts costed me $30 about 18 months ago I'm still not though them. IMO you should be able to sell plants for more than you grow them. So what if I got to weigh powders and mix them into solution about every month. A 500ml bottle of TPN cost $20 and will only last me 5.5 months at best. IMO dry ferts are the only reasonable method for fert large tanks. It may take a little while to figure out the dosing and method, but it that is to be expected in this hobby.
