I have always used Fluval and contrary to many opinions I have never had a problem.I'm still running filters that have been run continuously for 15 years. However, on the big tank I'm thinking of gigiving Eheim a try. It's a 300 litre tropical but I want to run two external filters for safety and also ease of cleaning and not interferring too much with the bacteria.
Anyway, what would anyone recommend? I find personal opinion a lot more use than bumph on a website.
Thanks

personally i would use the tetratec range.

maybee 1 EX1200
or 2 EX700
thanks

I have 2 Eheims and a Fluval - I would recomend the Eheim over the fluval ANY day!

Any of the Eheim wet/dry range (one suitable for your tank I would suggest ;) ) If you want two filters, I would go for two that are rated at 75% (at least) for your tank - this way even if you kill ALL the bacteria in one the other should still cope for a few days...
