Hi all

I am going to add my first coral to the tank over the weekend, suggestions on what would be a good starting soft coral for a newbie would be great, i really want it to be a good looking thing but more importantly easy to keep looking good.

Thanks
VM

Hi,

I would start with a leather type coral, there are many other types that would suit but my first was a leather and i still have it today as the centre piece of my tank. Zoanthids are also a good starter or maybe a pussy coral?

Start with mushrooms, Zoa colony or clove polyps/xenia. They are easy to keep and great starting out corals.

Regards

toadstool leather would be my suggestion Sarcophyton Sp. The zoo i added to mine seemed to sulk for a few weeks. Now my tank is 3 months old it seems a lot happier. So maybe a wait a little before adding any of those, or do a small frag not somethig at LFS prices. But the toadstool really extends itself, ive noticed big growth on it already. I also like the effect they can give in a tank, like a big center piece surrounded by smaller corals.
