Hi,

I'm after a small tank, say 2ft, 1ft,1ft for breeding my apistos, but not having much luck on ebay/classifieds. I may just buy from new, but can anyone recommend a nice little tank with good hood/access?

pets at home have 2ft tank and hood for £60...but im sure i could probably find better for cheaper?

Cheers,
Adam

ps, i live in the UK

Fluval are very good mate and usually include lights in the hood. Look out for a Roma 90 or 125.

well i have 3 tanks that size all different brands, an Elite, an Aquael and a Clearseal, to me there is no difference  Clearseal are cheap as its just the tank as said you can make a hood or buy 1 cheap.

Ps have you tried gumtree & preloved?

By the time you have bought a brand new clearseal tank, built a hood then purchased a light you would be able to find a second hand juwel rio or fluval roma imo.

cheers, guys, I haven't checked gumtree or preloved actually, ill try them now.

thanks for the info i'll look out for those tanks.

roma 90, always a few on ebay for decent price. with stand you might get one for £75

I quite like the seamless front of the Aqua One series - I have an AR620. The top filter is very easy to maintain as well.

thanks guys for the suggestions, i've tried gumtree and preloved, but no luck.

Today though i've found a Marina 60litre tank (60cm,35cm, 30cm) on another website for £50, it includes the bulb, heater and a stingray filter (not sure which one - i assume the larger of the 3types) and apparently the lot is only 6weeks old.

It's 5mins from my house and i'm thinking of offering £40, before other people bid.

Does anyone else have this tank? is it possible to fit in another bulb in? ( i prefer one blue&one white). is there a feeding flap? i hate having to always lift the whole lid!

Also how is the filter? I'm planning to put my trio of cockatoos in here to breed (or might have to move the female and eggs in if too small for trio), would this filter be ok with fry? could i cover the end with a stocking or something?

THANKS!
Adam

any views on the Marina 60 or elite stingray? yay or nay for £40?

not my cuppa tea really, i would save it towards a roma 90 with a fluval 2+ filter and heater for £50/£60. They are always popping up on eBay here and there. They also come with a pretty decent lighting unit / lid.

For Example £70 Buy Out with stand too. Cant knock that really. Ok its miles away but if you're not in a rush they do appear quite regularly.

Another example, a 125 Litre
