i beg to differ longfin are a beautiful fish
i have 2 browns and one BLACK bn
golden is not the same as albino
albinos are white
goldens are a yellowish colour

the so called white one u say.

is exactly the same as golden colour. its jsut a weaker strain and not as good quality

exactly same as the so called black bn. its a brown bn. they change color sometimes andbn's lose colour etc been more outbred

theres only the 2 colour strains mainly of the common bn's

u can get gold bn with black eyes L144?

claro bn's

starlight bn'sL183?

different shops have different names and if the wholesaler dont know what they are they make up a name...... just like the grean cory's i bought 6 weeks ago.. which i found out to be brochis splendens or emerald green catfish to us. not a cory at all. as chris says theres lot of variations of brown... line breeding wil darken or lighten that.. and same with breeding albinos they will get lighter by the generation but wil also be weaker and less deseize resistant. ive got albinos and browns and i love them both.well al 10 of them. long fin are pretty too but not seen any local :)

have to agree with rock with longfins very unatural and inhibits they way they swim :(, as for the confusion with black, white and albino/golden lol they are completely wright the albino/golden is just the same as your so called white and the black you say is also the same as brown :). if you actually want a black BN buy a 183 or 182 seem quite popular at the moment and alot more places are starting to stock them.

starlight bn'sL183?

182's are actually starlights rock :p 183's are white seamed :)

to the OP i personally think L183's are the best looking BN absolutley stunning when young :)

I'd like to find out more about the colors too. I have albinos, brown ones and brown ones that definately have a golden color to them. This pic shows the color difference:

Here are some younger ones that are even more yellow than it looks like in the picture. It's clear to see that they aren't albinos. Their father was albino and their mother was brown. Do you think they will lose this lovely color as they mature?

I have the very golden albinos and the more white looking, a white looking long fin and some browns. I would say my fave is either the golden males or brown males.

I would quite like to get one of the piebald ones.

hi there inchworm

uve got that mix colour because of the golden and albino cross
did get golden ones as well, or did they all turn out like this?
as this may determine, but not for definate which genes they carry

also have u bred the bn's with other bn's?

have u always had the asults since little?

alot of time the colour does lose as they get older

do u have pics of parents?

the young in them pics have fantastic markings and colourings and look really nice
