O coolguppygirly said:The tank you have sounds big enough to me, you'd just have a little less of a margine for error. If I calculated right it's about the size of a 30 gallon...it's a little bigger than my 29 so I'm just guessing.
yeah but my dad used to own a pet shop, thats where im gettin all the kit fromDrOizo said:30 is still too small for a newbie. It doesn't sound as though you know too much about saltwater (i'm new too) hop along to the SW forum and look at the pinned posts they'll give you some help. If you haven't tried FW the going to SW is a complete no no. For someone with little experience and money then SW is completely out of the question (thats why i'm not going to attempt it for some time)
I just got to this thread... glad you came to this realization.chewEboy said:If I had the money to spend on a new tank I would go ahed wit salt water

not reallyLobsterOfJustice said:Keeping a freshwater tank is COMPLETELY different than keeping a saltwater, except that they both have water. Just so you know...
I hope your dad has a lot of experience and I hope you really do more research before you decide to do this. Its much more complicated than you think, I can promise you that. Money-wise, my 75 gallon reef tank I'm setting up has about a $2200 price tag on it already, without any livestock, and corals and marine fish are very expensive (not unusual to pay 50-100 or more for a single specimen).
