where to place filter

i have a 10 gallon tank with an Aquaclear 150 filter. I recently recieved it ass a birthday gif. I was wondering where i should put it. Should it go in the middle on the back or off to one side on the back.?

I've placed all my filters at the back of my aquarium & to one side and to hide it i planted some vallisneria near the outlet so that i can see if the filter is working by looking at this plant waving in the current. I like a well planted aquarium looks so calming until all my fish decide to disamate it to pieces and leave a nice mess for me to clear up!!!!
