I need some plastic mesh sheets to help me with a layout but don't know where to buy them. they need to be solid enough to support some rocks and have a small enough guage that crabs can't wiggle through.

so far I've tried plastic baskets for pond plants. that kind of thing is good but I need larger sheets and preferably something slightly stonger.

Any idea where I could buy this kind of thing? I've tried B&Q and Homebase but can't see any plain sheets. If I kind track them down - i know they exist - I'll have to get creative with pond baskets or other foodsafe (fishsafe) mesh.

thanks

You using it for the bottom of the tank?

You can try using some Egg Crate that is sold at your local hardware or home improvment center. If you look at the Fx5 Modification thread you can see what it looks like.

Thanks, I think Egg Crate is exactly what I need. I've been asking for mesh and all I get shown is things like mesh netting for gradens. At least with a different name (and the photo on the thread) I can show what I want.

I'll be using it to construct raised platforms for rocks and maybe a 'beach' area (mesh box lined with nylon netting). that way I can have a lot of surface area AND water volume.

The egg crate is normally in the lighting section (here in the states at least), the actual purpose is to be a cover for fluorescent lighting, that may help you find it.
