Where is nemo actually from?

Hi all,

Maybe I didn't pay attention to the movie or maybe finding nemo did not state it... But does anyone know where does nemo and his dad came from? We all know that nemo was brought to Sydney, but from which part of the world??

They come from the Great Barrier Reef, which covers about one third of the east coast of Australia, specifically Queensland. It is the largest living organism on the face of the earth and can be seen from space. It is also the largest grouping of islands and coral reefs in the world with at least 2900 individual reefs and roughly 900 islands. It covers a distance of around 2500 kms and total area is about 350,000 square kms. Coincidently, it is larger than the U.K and longer than the western coast of the US. It made the world heritage list in 1981 and should be conserved at all costs as it truly is one of Earths greatest natural wonders.

So that means that dory and marilyn travel from the great barrier reef to the sydney.. whoa great distance for a clownfish and a regal tang if you ask me!!
