hello i wonder if i could trouble anyone for some assistance please
i bought a golden nugget pleco two days ago, it was around in the tank for a few hours now its just vanished, i thought they didnt have any preditors or things like that?
In my tank i have 4 guppies, 2 dawrf gaurmi's. 1 golden gurami, 2 dwarf angel fish, a sailfin, a betta (nice red one), 2 danio's and a zebra shrimp (about an inch long)

could anything have eaten it in such a short space of time, if so what?

can anyone help please because we are all so mystified here

look forward to any help you can give

many thanks

Does your tank have rocks / bogwood / caves etc ? If so your pleco is almost certainly chilling out in a comfortable hidey hole :)

It can take a while for them to settle in and feel comfortable enough to be out and about while the lights are on, I usually see mine in the early am or late evening just before lights out.

dont worry about it pal, it is probably hiding, took me ages to find mine, ive only just bought him and he dont come out much, have u tried building it a cave

o and what are you doing posting up at 4.29 am lol

If u got any drift wood in there? thats a really good hiding place. They blend in soo well, almost impossbile to spot. Mine seemed like it disappeared when i first got it. But it was just hiding in some caves. They are rather shy creatures. So it might just be a case of waiting till its ready to show itself. I really couldnt see any of the other tank mates hunting him down. Plecs are quite well armoured, the only fish i could see battering it in to submission that quickly would be some rather territorial cichlids. But then again it might of died due to the shock of being put into a different tank (ive a had a few fatalities this way) and the other residence could of picked the carcass clean and the skeleton become buried.
But fingers cross its isnt the latter. My personal opinion is that its just hiding away. Give it a bit of time to feel secure in its new surroundings and you'll see him sooner or later.

I agree with the above statements. I got a BN Pleco about a month ago, and for the first 2 weeks I could never find him. Now he's out a lot more. So I would just be patient and wait for him to get used to everything. After all it's all new.
