where can i get a hood and light?

i have a 48"lx12"wx18"h with out a hood. my lfs says they have a hood that will fit

perfectly and comes with a light but it is 112$, do i have any other options to get

one cheaper?

I'm going to build my own hood - some people on this forum have succeeded so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm intending to use plywood with pine strutting (yacht pine if I can get it) and a long piano hinge. I'm designing my own based on an expensive ready-made one I already own, which includes a condensation tray in the floor of the hood (so the light can be just balanced over it and doesn't need to be sealed in or anything).

At school were designing a project and yep you guessed it I'm also designing a aqaurium (well actually just the stand and the school said they'll buy me an aqaruium) It's going to be a 30g I think so I can't wait.

OOps sorry I forgot to answer the question...well anything brand new is quite expensive what you could do is go a fleece market ( I think thats what there called) or look in the paper...they have them frequently advertised here

why not try E-bay - I got an entire set up for £30. Should have cost just under £300.

yea ive been watching the papers and ebay and havent come up with much. i dont want to have to pay the lfs 112$, its a last resort. the problem ive found is that there are so many size tanks finding a hood that fits exactly is proving to be rather difficult.
