I want to replace the 2 HOB filters in our 29gallon tank, but having some trouble finding something I like.
I would like a canister filter, but they're all SO expensive.
I don't want to pay more than $40.

Would like something that is quiet, will create a nice, but not too strong of a current, and won't lose it's flow rate.

Any suggestions would be great!

Went ahead and got the one I linked to lol. I guess I'll come back and say if it's worth it or not hehe

Don't normally frequent these parts, but if its recommended to 33USG and your tanks 29 USG, I'd have gone higher. Manufacturers spec's are usually lower than what most people are happy with. I didn't look at exact flow rate mind, as I've just smelled burning pizza downstairs...

Let us know how you get on with it though.

Checked ebay. Someone had that filter listed, but for about $20 more than at the place I linked to. The rest of the filters were just too expensive though.

I was worried about the up to 33gal part as well, but I plan on keeping 1 of the HOB going. We'll see how it goes. :good:

Alrighty, the filter is a piece of crap. lol
The basket part is nice. Comes with these cute little compartment things.
But the instructions on putting it together are bare minimum. You have to guess for a lot of it.
And some of the parts are pieces of cheap crap. And then they don't even hook up properly/tightly.

Even w/ that, managed to set it up. Turned it on and I swear to god, made the most god awful noise. I've never heard anything like it and thought that it might become some canister filter bomb at any moment lol.

So yeah... *shrugs* $25 down the drain.
