It can get very annoying.

Aaaargh!

Just been to my local marine fish shop, I have been building my new tank for months and just wanted the final bits. (Protein Skimmer, some live rock and a few other odds and ends.) Spent about 30 minutes chatting to the freindly guy there, building up what I wanted to purchase (around £500 - £600) and was feeling a bit bad as there was a woman waiting.

So I said to the shop guy "that woman has been waiting ages, do you want to quickly serve her and I can quickly check out some fish." You know, because i am polite and care about other people.

45 minutes later the f^&%^& b&*(^ is still chatting to the shop guy and I am sitting there just wanting to ask a couple more questions and finalise the sale. Eventually I just walked out, walked back in to call the woman rude and selfish and tell the guy he just lost a £500+ sale.

I really really hate people like that woman. (And to be fair the shop guy to an extent.) When you let someone in front of you in a queue it is with the implication that they will be quick, not f*(^^% leave you standing there for f$%^$%^ ages.

Not a happy bunny now. Was all excited to be spending the rest of the day setting up all my shiny new stuff and aquascaping, instead I am now just annoyed and looking at an empty tank.

Needed a quick rant for catharsis, sorry guys.

Im the same as you and let people in front of me if im chatting. Luckily no1 has done that to me as i would give up to!
Is there any other shops u can visit?

I am stubborn - if they burn me once, ok, but twice - NO!

I was chatting to them within the shop about what fish to get, and he didnt even stop 'cleaning' during the conversation! I ordered the plec i wanted from them, but when it came in, he sold it to someone who thought it looked nice!!!! I ordered it again, but 2 months on, i have not heard anything from him..... so not going back! £25 plec, and a weekly spend of about £20 (soon adds up!!) has now vanished for them!

S.. That! Even there is a long queue, if I have questions to ask about a possible sale then tuff luck for the people waiting!

The shop should employ more staff!

There that's my quick rant. Guess Im still angry and pee'd off at the fact that a mate has just had a tank crash!

Poor bugg'r!

In my opinion I think it's your own fault for letting someone in front, it might have been a nice thing to do but did she know that you were letting her in front? If so then yes a bit selfish but you have to expect it from some people, and you walking in and calling her selfish and rude makes you rude too, sorry but that's just my perception.

Know how you feel, I bought some livestock last week and there was a lady in front of me with all of her dog stuff on the counter going back and forth over and over again picking different colour bones!!! Needless to say I was a tad mad!

Easy in my LFS there is the coffee system.

I invariably get offered a coffee when I go in and then chat and gradually build up the pile of stuff on the counter that I'm going to leave the shop with. If someone comes in while I'm there and they get offered coffee then they join the queue to chat. If they don't then I let them get served first while I enjoy my coffee.

That's how it works for me HC, I get a brew as I go in and things start to pile up. I've even got a coral corner that I can put things in to reserve them lol.

Yeah, I know it was my fault. Next time I won't let anyone in front of me.

Just annoyed with the empty tank sitting in the corner of my room when it could be full of stuff.

Oh well, cheaper to buy online anyway I suppose.

I have the rule that I never go to LFSs if I'm in a hurry. Then again, I'm one of those people who always sits around examining every product on the shelf before I finally pick out something trivial like an air stone. I have easily spent 30-40min in the past just staring at a single tank before deciding whether I want what's in it.

Dangit, I want a LFS that serves coffee! There's one that does free popcorn but I always make the mistake of heading down to that one when I've already eaten.
