When will we have babies??!!?

Our jewel chiclids (sp?) will lay eggs, protect them for days, then eat them! What's the deal? And this batch, they are half and half this time, half tan, half white. Usually there are only a couple white ones. (unfertilzed ones?)

Any advice?

After they lay the eggs and fertalize them you probably want to seperate them from the parents if you arent having any success of them raising them on their own. Most of the time if the parents of the eggs feel threatened they will eat their own eggs to pick up on some good protein instead of the other fish eating them. If you want the fry then get a 10 gallon tank with some tank water and put the eggs in the other tank without the parents.
