When water is cycled, should the water be clearer than usual? I see many people saying there tanks where "crystal clear" and it looks like the fish are floating in air. Would you notice any clarity difference?

i would say both my tanks are very clear now
my biorb does look like crystal especially in a photo
the trigon a little more difficult to tell because you cant view through it due to the background pic, but it is very clear now - the initial cloudiness was due to some dirt left on the gravel but that has cleared

My tanks were still a bit cloudy after the cycle. I think my biggest problem in the beginning was constant bacteria boom which will cause white cloudy water. I was overcleaning the gravel and causing bacteria booms every week. I'd also check to make sure your filter is not clogged. Mine got clogged with very fine debris in the very beginning from the new gravel. See if you can figure out if your tank is cloudy because of bacteria or dirt. If it is bacteria it will clear up on its own. If it is just dirt adding some filter floss in your filter may help.

My tanks have been very clear during cycling, except for the brownish color in one tank caused by a Mangrove root, but that has nothing to do with cycling.

all 3 of my tanks are and always have been crystal clear

if i turn off my filters and air pumps then my fish do seem to just be floating in air inside the tank...looks well good
