When Should I Add More Fish To My Tank

I setup a new tank around 5 weeks ago, in the 3rd week i added 5 guppies and 2 sword tail. I lost 4 guppies and 1 in the next two weeks. I think as my tank was still cycling i should not add too many fishes at one point. I had a issue of white spot that has been resolved as i sued Protozine. I checked the Ammonia level two days ago and it was 0.50 PPM, Nitrite at 0.25 ppm and Nitrate at 10 ppm. PH level is high since first day. It was 8.2 last time when i checked. In the last two days i changed about 40% of the water twice.

Any suggestions when can i add more fish as i have 110 L tank and only 2 fish in them as the moment.

I always dechlorinate water before i add it to the new tank.

I think you need to read up about fish-in cycling as this is the situation you are currently in. Keep doing huge water changes as often as you can until you can get the nitrite and ammonia down to 0ppm

i would wait until you get the nitrite and ammonia down to 0 and staying at 0 for quite a few days. do big water changes every day and eventually it should happen.

i am doing the same with my tank and luckily i havent lost a fish.

i am doing 40% daily water changes until the filter can deal with the ammonia and nitrite properly.

when you finally add more fish add one or 2 a week or you may get a spike and lose more

As the other members have said; when you have double zeros for ammonia and nitrite; I'd say for a week.

Another vote for doube zeros as the trigger to add more fish. I would also look to see if there are ways to reduce your pH - use of rain water for instance - as many of the fish in there prefer 78.0 and below. This is the reason I've revised my fish list (though gppies can happily breed in 8.0).
