I'm just wondering about what age a GT should be before you can really tell its gender? Are there any definitive signs to tell the difference between a male and a female?

Also, how big does a schooling fish need to be to not look like food to them?

Well Im not to sure but I know males get a forehead.

the nuchal hump? yeah, but that doesn't develop for a good while.

I'd hope all fish have a forehead

haha like the one in my sig

I have a male and female and the big thing is how much faster the male grows. they are the same age and the male is about 7 inches, and the female is 4. He doesnt have a nuchal hump. His fins (top and tail) seem to be a lot longer than hers.

This is my male and female. Hope this helps.

do males and females eventually reach the same size, though?

also, would a GT and JD get along in a 75 gallon, do you think?

It depends if you have a pair or not. My male is quite protective of his lady. he even guards the tank from me. also, my jds are a pair and seem to hate everyone when they spawn. in fact, they ate their babies to protect them from the oscars!

This is my Green Terrors reaction to me getting near his territory and his lady.

I think it'll work, depending on the temperaments of the fish.
