how mature does a tank need to be before getting one
i only have a 64litre tank so will be one of the smaller ones

what is the best thing to feed them on ect i have a large piece of drift wood and i will have cucumber ect if the rainbows dont eat it all
also will they eat snails that burrow into the gravel?

The only plec that is suitable for your tank IMO would be the the chaetostoma or bulldog plec. In particular if you can find it Chaetostoma sp. (2) as that is the smallest one. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=1605

Alterntively there are other L numbers that are similarly small but extremely expensive I guess it depends on your budget.

clown plecos would be fine in a 64l.they are about £8 from my lfs and i have 2 of them. they grow to about 4 inches.ideally you only want 1 in a 64l --> depending on filter.i had 2 in my 2ft long 64l.you defo need wood and food wise, i would suggest.....algea wafers, flake, pellets, brine shrimp cubes, potato, cucumber.not all at once but a varied died leads to a healthy pleco.

what other fish do you have in there?

only wanted one mate lol will get down to the lfs 2morrow to nose
at the minute there is to dwarf neon rainbows in there as the tanks has not cycled fully
slowly i will build up a small school of rainbows 5-6ish
then get 1 clown pleco
then i may get a few bottom feeders undecided
here is my tank atm there plenty of wood
