I just wanted to know when they can be removed, because I have heard a few different things. I have heard that when they are free swimming then you should remove him. And I havealso heard that some people dont remove them until they start to fight. What do you think?

No, you misread it.

You remove the father when they are free swimming.

You remove the juveniles to different tanks or bowls when they start fighting amongst themselves.

You can remove the father when the fry are free-swimming, or any time thereafter. You don't really HAVE to remove him at all until his daughters are old enough to be bred with, and then you probably should remove him, so you can control breeding. Otherwise, he'll breed with the most dominant of his daughters, and all hell will break lose.

You can't remove fry until their labyrinth mechanism is fully functioning, and shouldn't remove them until they're six weeks old and may be starting to nip at each other.

You can. Many people won't, because he's no longer really needed, and sometimes they may eat their fry.

I usually leave mine in with the fry for the first week, then take him out at the first water change and put him back in his normal home to relax and recuperate from fatherhood.

HUH? You didn't know that I always left the father takingcare for his babies in the breeding tank before? That is the easiest way for me. LOL  Check out what I have posting in the past. LOL :D
