Just amending the resource centre. Seffie came up with a good idea about keeping the chit chat section on the setups, and keeping the coral care pages in the coral and invert section and fish info in the fish section. Rather than how it is now, where its all in the chit chat section, and then its duplicated in the coral and fish sections.. this would help get the other sections busier?

Firstly does that make sence?! LOL and secondly, what do you think?

I agree that the other sections need more 'traffic' I hardly ever look in them as most things are posted here, also I probably wouldn't post there as the post might not be read! Any way to get everyone in different sections is good!

It would make logical sense to have the guides in their respective boards, for example:

Corals and Invertebrates in Saltwater Corals and invertebrates,
Fish profiles in Salt Water Fish
Hardware, setups live rock etc in Saltwater Hardware

Then you could maybe have the works in the chit chat section.

Thats what its like at the moment. But what has been suggested is that the chit chat section should not have the 'works' as it limits people to the page. The idea being, to access the resource for whatever section, you have to enter the respective board, and therefore creat more traffic in those boards..

I doubt it'd improve traffic, if you're referring to the number of posts per day.

more number of posts in each specified section, all topics are currently filtered through the chit chat section rather than their specific topic.

ie a post re coral should go in the coral and invertibrate section but gets posted here in the chit chat section.

That's up to individual members to use the forum properly.

You'd have to make a plea to anyone that uses the salt water boards encouraging them to post in the correct sections.

I post regularly (ok a lot ) and as I said I wouldnt post in the other sections purely because noone else looks there. I agree getting rid of resources at the top of the chit chat might help for people to look in the right section for an answer!
I was also thinking about the journals being at the top of here means some people will only browse the journals and the chit chat, so never backing out to the main salty section list!

yep that is what I would like - with Chit Chat actually used for just that, Marine chit chat. And as Weeza suggested, would like a seperate forum section for the journels, instead of them being tucked away in Chit Chat....... but, we need a MOD to champion this, any takers?

What used to happen, is that if someone posted a hardware question say, in Chit Chat, it would be moved to Hardware, but that doesn't happen any more
