I have a 55 gallon tank with 6 female guppies, an electric blue dwarf ram, and a bunch of babies. Recently I introduced a new female whom I did not quarantine like I usually do. My mistake. She acts like a normal fish sometimes but other times she hides or rests under decorations. I’ve caught her “shimmying” a few times. She doesn’t seem as excited to eat unlike my other guppies who are super healthy. I’ve had her for 2 days and today I noticed she has a white patch on her side. More like discolored scales. As soon as I saw that I moved her into the only thing I had which is a good sized bucket with a sponge filter.
my perimeters: 0 ppm ammonia
0 ppm nitrite
5 ppm nitrate
7.5 ph
What’s wrong with her? Is it contagious? How do I cure it?

It’s a slow time on the forums. But in 5 hours or so someone should provide an answer. Meanwhile enjoy our forums and please vote in the Fish of the Month contest.

What are your levels of Gh and Kh? If your water is not hard enough, switching to a soft water environment might have shocked her. As far as I know Rams like very soft water and guppies like harder water.

Are her fins clamped? It could be a parasite or something similar. I would start her on a dose of aquarium salt in her water. For my guppy fish I use 1 tbs per 3 gallons of water, for general maladies. I up the dosage if necessary, up to 1 tbs per gallon.

I usually do a 1hr dip in paraguard while my fish are in qt.
