When I got home from work today I noticed that about 3 of my gobies are breathing really heavily. Is this normal???? What could be wrong? What should I do??
My tank is set at about 80 degrees. My ammonia and nitrite are both at 0. I didn't test for nitrates as I just changed the water Wednesday. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I also noticed that a couple of the gobies have attached themselves to the side of the aquarium near the top of the water. Are they possibly not getting enough oxygen out of the water? Do I need to add an airpump or something?

Two possabilities are:

1. there being (or have been very stressed)
2. A lack of DO

Try turning down the temp a degree or two
and dimming the lights to try and calm
them down.

Hope this helps :good:

When ever you see fish siting at the water surface gasping for air, first thing i would do is add air pump and do water change. Once done take some of the water removed from the tank and test it, see if you can find a problem.

I turned the temp down by a degree or two and left the lights off for most of the morning and they were still breathing really heavy. I also added a air stone this morning and it's been running most of the day, but they are still breathing heavy. Every thing else in my tank is fine. It's just the gobies (and it's not even all the gobies). I have them in FW and I know a lot of people say their Brackish. Could this be the problem? On the other hand, I know a lot of people on this forum keep them in FW. Does anybody else have any ideas?

They've been in since Wednesday. My water parameters are all good. No ammonia or nitrite.

Have they been doing
this since the day they
were added?

Chances are they could
be b/w gobies.

I'm sure others can tell you more,

Good luck :good:
