Hi. The scales on my orange platy have been losing their color. It started near the top fin & has slowly spread down the sides of the fish. I just noticed that this is happening to another orange platy. Otherwise, behavior is absolutely normal, but the scales just don't look right. Help!! What is this???

There are a few things that can cause colour loss in fish
A bacterial infection, TB, NTD, Skin flukes, Velvet

Are there any other symptoms that can help identify this?

I can't detect anything else that is different. They are eating great & very active. The male is still chasing all the females around the tank. I have one other fish with a grey fungus which I have been treating, but no other fish have this. I really have no clue what this is, but there's obviously something up.

Ok, then my advise is to do a 50% water change now and do a 20% water chage for three days after today. In the meantime I'd treat with a general tonic salt, such as Aqualibrium by interpet.
I HTH

Actually, I always have 1 Tblsp/5 gallons of aquarium salt in my platy tank. I am wondering whether I should remove these fish from my tank because I have no idea what they have or how treat & it is obvioulsy spreading.

About 2 Weeks ago my tetra had that it started from the top fin and it speaded to the stomach and after 1 he died :-(

he was active but dint stay with the group use to stay away from them

I took my fish out last night & after really checking him out, I noticed that his scales were sort of sticking out from his body (but not bad like dropsy). The odd scale looked like it was just ready to fall off. Maybe they are losing their scales too & not just color. I did a 50% water change last night, but not sure what to do from here.
