What's Wrong With Him

I went to my local pet shop to look at the betas and saw one that was struggling to stay up right (very bloated), another that was dead, and this guy whose head is so deformed it looks more like a parrot fish than a betta. what's wrong with him? I was trying to get a pic without glare when a pet shop person saw me and took him away.

Its hard to say as the bowl deforms his body quite a lot.
 
It may just be a born deformity.

I am from UK and what I want to know is why on heavens earth do they put these beautiful fish in these stupid cruel bowls....no wonder the poor thing seems unwell...

Well that's the thing, the bowl isn't deforming his shape - he really looked that shape!

The whitish spot in the first picture sort-of looks like [acronym='Hole In The Head']HITH[/acronym], though I don't know if it can cause something like that, could just be a deformity.

HITH? He did have a few white bumps that looked like they were coming from underneath his skin (?) on his face. The per shop person said it was likely a parasite.
