Also i was wondering if i attached it to some bogwood under the water it would still grow?

It seems to have like bulb looking things underneath. frogbit looks a bit larger than this stuff.

Any idea if it can live submerged.

they are sold at most LFS's as floatng plants for ponds. cant remember the name though! my fish play football with them :)

water hyacinth
i now this for a fact!!
no i cant live submeregeit is solely a floating plant
the little balls that the leaves are on are full of little air pockets that
keep it afloat
it is a very commonp pond plant
i really dont know if its good in aquariums though

It multiplies fast - it is a huge pest in dams as it quickly covers the entire surface.

In a fish tank I would say it is a bad choice - too bulky and blocks too much light

yep defo water hyacinth i have some in my tank ive never had a problem with it multiplying the don't grow that fast here either in a pond or aquarium yes they are floating plants and lovely when they flower

ahh cool :) it was in the outdoor section at miadenhead asked them if it was alright in a tropical aquarium and they said it will be. I'll get something else for attaching to the bog wood. The plant is good though as it stays at the top. I've found other floating plants end up in the filter:(
Be good to see when it flowers. If it does multiply it can go in with the snakeheads i'd imagine they'll like the stuff.

Water Hyacinth does great in tropical aquariums. Excellent for water quality as it absorbs alot. Plus the thick bushy roots are great for fry.

what about if you have a top on your tank?
