Whats the difference?

Hey i am kinda new to the siamese fighter fish and i was wondering if some one clear all this up for me. What are all these sub names for them about e.g. plakat, vf betta. I am aware of the siamese fighters real name being 'betta' but i am unsure about the others...quite embarrasing really when there seem to be experts on this site, i have never kept a betta before i have always been involved in colourful community tanks and have noticed their fantastic colours.Please help...bakerboi
