i picked up some corys sold as 3 line's today, and was looking at pictures of julli's, and i cant see a difference. how much (ish) shoudl 3 line's be ? i paid 6.25 from an LFS ive not used before. its been a pet shop for at least 20 years, but they only recently got a tropical bit set-up, first time ive been in there. some of the fish seemed overpriced - a 5 inch rusty plec for 25 quid !! - but some seemed alright.

i was happy to pay 6.25 each for the cory's, they look great. its the first time ive seen some in a shop, and in the tank below they had san juan cory's, another one i'd never seen.

Corydoras julii is a rare cory that you'd be extremely lucky to find in an LFS. however, the 3 line cory (Corydoras trilineatus) is quite common. they usually cost between £5-6 around my area.

Corydoras trilineatus is often mislabelled Corydoras julii, and if you see a cory labelled julii it will most probably be trilineatus.

cheers :good:

1. C.Julli are much less common than C.Trilineatus and both species are often confused
2. C.Julli are more spotty (small round spots) whereas C.Trilineatus are more reticulated, maze, longer spots

ok then, was just curious. i'll get some pics of my new additions up tomorrow, and pics showing sterbai, schwartzi and trilineatus all enjoying eachothers close company. its dd how some fish are common in some places. thisis the first ive seen trilineatus or san juan in person. i nearly went for the san juans, they were a quid cheaper and very nice, but the tri's were stunning.

i googled for julli pics but most were just pics of tri's. obviously thats where i got confused, they look massively different !

Please, folks. If you are going to use copyrighted images, without permission of the photographer, at least be ethical enough to give credit to the owner of the image. I'm sure Mr. Fuller would appreciate that modicum of respect for his work.

The proper way to handle this is to provide a link to the image. The image of the C. julii is © Ian Fuller. - Frank
