anyone whats the best/cheapist source of Ammonia in the UK

I know i can use prawns but they will get really smelly won't they?

Jeyes "Kleen Off" Ammonia. Most household stores and DIY stores such as Robert Dyas etc. You are unlikely to find it in normal supermarkets though.
It's about £2 for a large bottle and more than you would likely use.

Edit: actually here is a good thread about it that will also show you a picture Kleen Off

Cheers I'll look into that.

I was going to use prawns. Has anyone tried that? is it really smelly?

Not used it and really don't think it's a good idea :/ just use the right stuff in the right dose and you should be absolutely fine (or your water at least!)

Or on a another thread, peeing in the tank, just kidding go to hardware store they have pure ammonia.

If Boots don't do it check any local hardware store. As long as it's only ammonia and water (no perfume, etc), the brand doesn't matter. Mine cost 1.59 and I reackon there's enough in there to cycle a whole fish shop and leave some over for the spring clean.

What am i looking for any product names etc. Also what sort of products is the ammonia in eg floor cleaning, drain unblocker, window cleaning

Just so i know which section to look in.

Thanks all.

Ok i've tried looking in boots and homebase.

Boots said they don't have any and homebase just looked at me odly and said "What? Errrrrr....... I don't think so."

I had a good look around but could not find any. Do you know what i'm supose to be loking for?

Or has anyone got any left or some they could give/sell me?

It's not all that easy to find. Try Robert Dyas or a local DIY store. In the link I provided above it shows you exactly what it looks like. That's your safest bet as some of the others I've seen wasn't clear about what it contained and/or any additives. Where do you live. That stuff can't be posted, but if you wanted to have some, I'm close to Richmond (greater London).

Hi there

I'm sure the stuff could be posted.
Just put some in a container such as an old water container such as the 500ml coke bottle. and put it in the post.

How are they going to know what it is? Also its not harmeful so it should be ok.

I'm willing to pay postage.
