on my nano i have a external fluval canister filter, there is no light in it. so i was just wondering if there would be any life in it b4 i go sticking digits in there.

i was thinking maybe bristle worms, and no idea what else would be in there.

Bristle Worms, Sea Squirts, Sponges, Aiptasia, Brittle Stars, Tunicates , Pods are what most people find in the darker areas of the filtration systems.

so its a bad idea to go in with out any gloves on then but if its only got substrat in it i should not need to do anything to it right?

I would never place my hands into a space that i cannot see or is dark where marines are concerned. I would recomend you use gloves.

Or in your entire set-up. Always where gloves. They are re-usable.
