Hi everyone.

Back in the fish world after a break. I recently set up a small tank into which I put 4 emperor tetras and some galaxy rasbora. Now I got two males and two females Emperors and one of the females (who incidentally appears gravid) has had her tail completely nipped off. She's cowering in a corner behind the heater. What's going on?
I don't have another tank for damaged tankmakes, and I hardly expect it with these so called peaceful fish.

hi,
that does seem strange to be taken away. i have seen emperor tetra's go after the tails of fish and they are characins same family as the piranha and if you look closely at their mouths they do look a bit alike but no they are peaceful and it is strange. perhaps the males did get a little excited. can you keep an eye out and let us know if you find out. i haven't kept the galaxys but would like to. they seem a bit small to be a problem. could it be fin rot
