Miss Wiggle
Practically perfect in every way
well my amazon sword's doing really well it shot up a stalk for flowers, which pretty quickly becaome far too tall for the tank. oscar's a jumper so i can't leave the lid of the tank open so we popped out the hand hole bit and it's poked up through there
it looks a bit daft but it's the only compromise we could think of! still get to enjoy the flower and oscars kept safe.
anyway it's been months now and it's still been goig strong, it stands maybe 8-10" proud of the lid and has loads of buds on it. the last couple of days it's looked a bit wilty so i figure it's time is almost done (although i noticed a new one coming up yesterday). now i assume the flowers are for propagation of some sort, in the outside world would they have been pollenated by bee's etc like flowers on non aquatic plants?
I'm guessing in the wild when it's done flowering it'd drop back into the water and the seeds or something from the flowers would grow to form new plants?
So if I let it drop back into the tank have I any chance of new plants coming up? i assume it hasn't been pollenated in my house although i suppose it's perfectly possible a bee or somethings come in through the window and done it (don't really understand how pollenation works actually but that's for another day!). If I let it drop back into the water would the flowers or anything cause any problems polluting my tank?
so should i just let it drop, or cut it off, or what?
