Hi in my newbie excitement I got a sailfin (gibbiceps) from my LFS as they said it was going to stay small that was about 3 months ago. It was 1inch now 4-5inches and growing nicely however I have fallen in love with plecs and spent ages on planetcatfish and know it is eventually going to be too big for my tank and id really like to get a more suitable smaller plec. However my LFS want take it back because they say ive had it too long. What am I to do? Does anyone want it? Im in South Wales

Have you tried another lfs?

Otherwise there is the Classified Section on this forum.
Or Aquarists Classified.

They sold you a fish with the wrong information and no guidance but they won't take it back because you have had it too long? They sound pretty lame to me. I would definitely be avoiding them from now on.

Good luck in your quest for plecs, they can be very addictive! Lol.

Welcome to the forum.

I got it from P@H and ive contacted my local MA aswell as they are they only other LFS and they wont take it either I'd just like it to go to a good home really.

try the for sale section on here, or gumtree or aquarist classifieds.

P@H suck sometimes.

If you haven't had any luck rehoming the plec, take it back to the shop you bought it from and threathen them with the law - heavy penalties and fines of £1000+ for misselling. By selling a gibbi as a small plec that won't grow they have clearly broken the UK Trades Desriptions Act -goods are clearly not fit for purpose (assuming you told them your tank size) AND not as described (small plec)You are legally entitled to return it and get a full refund. If they refuse, threathen to report them to the Trading Standards Authority. Misselling fish is a crime as bad as misselling any other goods. After all, if you were sold a dress for a child you wouldn't expect it to be adult size. So why should they get away with selling a gibbiceps as a small plec
Good luck and keep us informed about the shop's response.
