I have brought a Juwell 125 tank 3 days ago, Im no thinking what fish to add to the tank initially. Im basically wanting a community tank.

I was thinking of:
2 Honey Gourami[/COLOR]
2 dwarf blue gourami

Is this a good first "hardy" choice??? Or do you recommend something else?

Thanks

it was the "so called" experts at my local pet shop that recommended

Honey Gourami and dwarf blue gourami???

Think then Zebra Danios will be my first fish then......

Interested in any more ideas??

Platies are very hardy, I believe. I would use them if you have less than a 10 gallon tank. Although I wouldn't use guppies, they are very weak nowadays because of inbreeding.

I used 3 platies to cycle my 10 gallon and they are as happy as ever. Of course I ended the cycle when I put one of my filter pads from my 55 gallon. :)

Black Widow Tetras are also said to be very hardy and are a quite peaceful community fish, my four do not bother the other fish at all.

Okay, maybe I'm stupid, but it doesn't look like they were looking for a fish to cycle the tank with, just wondering if those fish would be good for a beginner. If you cycle the tank first I can't imagine why you couldn't have those fish :dunno:

I would go for a choice or mixture of different danio's i currently keep Zebras, Peal and Leopard danio's @ the mo and seem to do well. I like the way they gobble food up when it's feeding time :p

Platys are good for beginners, abit more forgiving while you learn about water quality and maintance of your tank.

My first were zebra danios. I had 5 of them to cycle my tank. Thay all lived for over 2 years. I think 1 of them lived 3 years.

does anyone have pics. of zebra danios as i have never seen one but have read a lot about them on here. They sound pretty cool. Are they livebearers?
