According to this site: peteducation.com

about the only freshwater species that'll "fit" in my 18 gallon tall eclipse system are zebra danios, white clouds, dwarf groumis, or a betta.

Are there other sites with different ideas about tank size requirements? Tiger barbs need 30 gal. minimum? Angels too? help!

A good rule to follow is 1" of fish per gallon but remember the size the fish will grow to and allow for this.Angels need quite a large tank, deep too to allow for their finns as they can be quite big.The bigger the fish then the less you will be able to put in there. ;)

Sorry i forgot to add the slim bodied bit.
And i was only trying to help Doggfather, its the advice i was given on here by many people.

Beavo, what should also be considered is not what the fish can live in, but what they can thrive best in. Tiger barbs, to use your example, get to a decent size, are somewhat aggressive, and are best kept in larger groups. For all these reason they are in fact, most suitable for 30 gallons or larger, but technically they can be kept in smaller, and people do all the time without problems.

hiya fish lovers

we just set up our tank (almost...we left gravel in the shop) i need to dechlorinate the water when the tap water is in the tank??? its 14gallon UK tank (just under)

i read about the fishless cycle, and when i put the food in, how long do I need to leave it, how do i know when the cycle is done?

thanks in advance

Mark :)

HI Markos

People will be happy to help you out, but you will need to start your own thread, as that has nothing to do with this topic.
