i was thinking either a rock wall, or a stick on back ground. the rock wall would be ceramic media stuck on egg crate, but the blue stick on appeals too!

can any put up any pics of their ank with blue/black/ or rock wall back grounds?

black - nothing therefore to distract from what's IN the tank....

Forgive me guys.
I only suggested a decorama to enhance the tank rather than the norm Black n Blue brigade.
By doing or making a decorama you can hide all those nasty looking but essential electrical boxes which in my mind detract from the overall picture you are trying to create.
To me there is nothing worse than a flat backed painted background an a blooming multitude of brick shaped Tunze pumps or otherwise straped to the panes spoiling what essentially could be a stunning example of a living reef.
This is why I chose to go with something a bit different, loosing volume is a fair comment but my next tank will loose even more volume/space but I will factor that in to the build.

Forgive me guys.
No need!

These are after all, just personal preferences from each poster....I would never wish to impose my ideas for looks on others, just suggestions.

From all the tanks I've looked at, I like the clean black backgrounds the most(no coralline). I feel this style makes the coral and fish "pop". So...I've painted my tank black :)

Now I'll see if I can/will keep up on coralline scraping

This is a pic of my old marine tank with a blue background:

Blue did look good but if I do set one up again, I am tempted to go for a black background.
