Hello
My name is Greg, and new to the group, and I have a question for the group. This is my Redtail Catfish, and I would like to know if anyone may know what type of Redtail Catfish is it? The only thing that I have found is that it is Asian??

Hi Greg, welcome to the forum.

It’s a hybrid between the South American Redtail Cat (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus) and one of the Tiger Cats (Pseudoplatystoma), which are also South American.
It probably did come from Asia, because they’re into hybrids and altering fish in a big way over there.
There are also a few Asian species called Redtail (Hemibagrus) but yours is a hybrid between two SA species.

@Ichthys beat me to it - it's yet another Asian fishfarm designer fish. It'll get to 3 foot long fairly fast if you take care of it, so start preparing that 1200 gallon + tank now. It'll thrive in a tank with a 20-30 foot front on it. It's a swimmer. 6 feet front to back will do, and 3 feet deep would probably be fine.

Never release such fish into the wild, even in Florida, because they can survive down there and cause mayhem with native species.
