last night i got some macro algea for my salwater nano. i know u got 2 good clumps of cheato but i picked up another type that ive never seen before. its bright green and has long thin leaves that look like feathers. it seems to grow along one long horizontal stem with leaves periodicly sent up. sorry i got no pics. any one have any ideas what it is? your help will be appreciated.

Sounds like Caulerpa, looks good but very dangerous if it goes sexual...

Agreed..and those rhizomes will overrun live rock. I'd get it out if it is not in a sump. SH

Personally I'd just remove it all together but if you can put it in the sump / fuge, regular trimming and 24/7 lighting will reduce the risk, but it's still a risk.

I have it in my display as well as 5 other types of macro's. I like it but it is the look I'm going for. It does grow fast and does need to be trimmed. If your looking for slower growers try red grape caulphera and halmedia.
