i would personaly get the biggest i could afford, and that will also fit in the cabinet

im 99.9% sure a 405 will fit in the cabinet if the shelf is removed :good:

pop onto ebay, and check out amwell aquatics, there fluval are very well priced brand new. ive bought my filters from there and have had no problems

hope this helps

Thanks for your help i shall do that. Is it ok to have a small filter in there aswell just to add a little flow.

if anything, you may have to turn down the flow in a rio 125,lol

you could pop another filter in there if you wanted,it would do any harm.

a 305/405 will be ample i think for that tank though.

well a Fluval 305 would be good, but bigger is better and also incase you upgrade go for the fluval 405! always a few knocking around on ebay at nice prices :)

If you want a filter that will do upto 3 years, buy a Fluval. If you want one that will last longer, buy an Ehiem, Tetratec, Rena or Aquaone... Budget filters, budget quality, and nothing but trouble IME. The only time I'll touch a Fluval now is if you are paying me to do so. Mine went through about 3 new main seals, a couple of quick releases and several new impeller in the 6 months I had it before the motor unit failed and started giving out electric shocks. Granted, I bought it second hand, but it was from a well know member on here and their Rena that I got from them at the same time was in perfect nick. On top of reliablilty issues with the Fluval, it sounded like a freight train while running. At work there is a constant barrage of people with dead Fluval external comming through the door wanting to make a warrenty claim, despite following Fluvals instructions...

Not trying to put you off Fluvals or anything :shifty:

All the best
Rabbut

fluval are rubbish buy anything else but that

I had the fluval 205,
came back one day to find i lost about a bucket of water out of the tank
it leaker on the part near the power cord area and clip from the seal,

alot of people told me about this but i gave the 205 the benifit of doubt, and it leaked,
iv now got a tetratecEX1200 really quiet and just overall a better filter plus better filtration IMO

dont get me wrong there will be plently 205 running without a hitch, but it failed me
