What treatment

My Tetra (Head & tail lights) has what looks like a boil on his stomach just above his anal fin. Otherwise he is quite well.

He is one of a mating pair and the female is preggy at the moment. So she will need him soon

What treatment would you suggest?

Sounds like a tumour or a bacterial infection. I would use interpet No. 9 for the whole tank, if its bacterial. If you cant get that one, Myxazin from waterlife is good too. If its a tumour, and doesnt respond to the bacterial treatment, I would possibly out the fish down. It could be fish TB, that can be nasty and treatments arent effective from what I've heard.

I have been seeing a lot of threads about Melafix. Would that do the trick?

If it appears to be under the skin then I doubt Melafix will be of much benefit, if the skin si broken and its an open sore, then yes it could be beneficial.

Hope its not TB as I've heard it can spread to humans ......brr..scary..
