hi guys, i have this gorgeous pair of convicts at the moment, always together, they don't leave each others side, they have only been in the tank for about a week or so and are about 2"-2.5" long...... i have a 90 Gal tank (with a mixed central/african community) i only did this for a short period so i could find out which fish i wanted to keep (my friend is going to be now taking my africans for his large tank!) so i would like to get some nice tankmates for these 2 convicts......

i really liek the angels, jack dempsey, ruby crown (Microgeophagus altispinosus), etc

but what would you guys recommend?

well out of the fish that you listed only the JD would be able to stand up to a breeding pair of cons and not be destroyed. personally I say get a 30 gallon for the cons and then do an angel tank with the 90.

IMO, the JD would either get extremely stressed out and sick, or it'd attack the cons :/

Keeping a pair of cichlids with other fish is a generally bad idea (with the exceptions of some dwarf cichlids) Many people have to learn the hard way how brutal a breeding pair of cichlids can be, it's not pretty. There usually isn't any aggressive displays toward the other fish, just constant biting, tearing, and chasing.

I agree with Juan, get the convicts a separate tank and spare yourself the deaths, injuries, and stress induced illnesses caused by the convicts aggressive defense of their fry and territory :)
