My clown pleco just isn't doing his job. He sucks the sides of the tank but there are still tons of alage. I have dicided to get either a bristle nosed pleco or a couple of otos along with him to help clean the sides better. What do you guys think I should do?
As far as I know and correct me if I am wrong but clowns are not primarily algae eaters, they like to eat wood and vegetables.
I think a BN would do a good job as long as it is the right kind of algae (maybe your clown doesn't like the type of algae you have). Remember that it is best to substitute the plecos diet with other food depending on what type you go for. Just do some reading somewhere like here and you will find what you want I am sure.
Well the alage is florestent green and is covering the gravel. It is also on the castle and the sides of the tank. And its on the fake plants in the tank.
And yes you are right about the clowns. I will give her peas and lettuce every once and a while.
