What can I feed my collomesus puffers? At the moment I'm feeding them frozen bloodworm twice a day and they seem happy, should they be getting more variety though?

Colomesus or South American puffers will eat cockles, snails, prawn pieces etc. They go mad for bloodworms as well... like most other puffs :). Basically go for frozen or live foods (so long as the live food is from a reliable source due to disease risk) as they won't eat from the surface.

Oh yes, forgot to mention: I read your signature and it says you're keeping your puffers with gourami and mountain minnows etc.? You might want to rethink that setup pretty soon, because eventually your little guys are likely to start taking a fancy to the fins of the other fish.

thanks for the advice! I was thinking that I would move the puffers when they got big/aggressive. They seem alright for now though, they hide in the plants a lot and don't pay much attention to the other fish. - they're growing quite fast though...

I have a couple of teeny snails that came in with a plant I bought... I left them in thinking the puffers would eat them. But I've seen one of them trying to eat the snail but it can't dislodge it from the glass...

My lfs sells a large variety of frozen foods, so I'm sure I'll find something there - i'm pretty sure they have cockles. Are you sure though? Don't cockles live in the sea and aren't collomesus puffers freshwater?? These are my first ever puffers though so I'm a bit of a newbie...

ok... I got some cockles from my lfs but the puffers aren't touching them  ... I'm gonna see if they're gone by the morning and if not, then I'll take them back out...
