What do otto cats eat? I have some sinking shrimp pellets, like what cory cats eat. Would that be okay or should i just get algea wafers or something else vegaterian?
Thanks in advance for all of your info :)

Their staple food is algae wafers or tablets. I would definitely get those. Not sure what the nutritional info should be, but moisture should be low and it should have a few vitamins...

You might also want to try different brands of wafers. I'm not sure if they'll eat the pellets, but it would probably be a welcome source of protein if they do.

I found that in my tank, the otos aren't quick enough to find the algae wafers. I've tried it numerous times, even after turning off all of the lights in the room. The other fish always get to the wafers first.

You can supplement their diet with vegetables. I've been using cucumber and zuccini. Usually peel them, cut it in half (length wise), and remove the seeds. Then i put it in my tank, you usually have to place it in some gravel. Since i don't blanch the veggies, i usually leave it in for 2 days tops. the otos seem to enjoy the veggies a lot :p

yes, that is why i got them initially, but i only had a slight brown algea problem, which they cleared up in about a day-I have 3 of them. Now that there isnt any algea visible I would like to make sure that they're being well fed.
