My fancy fish adore courgette! It floats though, and the fish swim past it with no idea it's there! So I have to get some weights (available from any fish store) to tie to a slice of courgette, then I drop it in and it sinks, at which point the fish attack it like Jaws! It's fun to watch but be sure not to leave it in the tank for longer than a day if it's not being eaten, because it disintegrates and clogs up the filter  Also, the fish tend not to eat the skin around the edge, so you'll have to remove it afterwards.

Most fish stores have frozen food, which are blister packs containing single blocks of various food, so you can get bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp and other creepy crawlies, all nicely frozen in ice cubes that you'll need to defrost in a bit of warm water and then pour into the tank. There's one called a 'Tropical Quintet' which contains all of the above so you can give them a variety.

Also, Tetra do a jelly type food which is only good as a treat really, but they love it. It's called Tetra Fresh Delica and you squeeze the packs into the water like those plastic sachets of ketchup!

Have fun, I'm sure your fish will!
